It’s that time again – time to protect our voters! Poll Watchers are the first line of defense in the voter protection process. Poll Watchers observe what is happening inside the polling places. As a poll watcher, you will be training on what to look out for, how to report your observations, and how to get assistance to disenfranchised voters.
The Republican Party is preparing to recruit 150,000 Poll Watchers across Pennsylvania. The are forgoing neighborhood canvassing and focusing on Poll Watching. This presents a huge challenge to us. Here in Franklin County, we have 71 polling places that we need to watch. With a minimum of three Poll Watchers per location, the need really adds up!
If you are interested in becoming a Poll Watcher this election cycle, these are the steps to follow in order to receive your Poll Watcher certification and assignment:
- You must be a registered Democrat living in Franklin County to work inside the polls. (If you do not live in the county, you can assist outside the polls. You should still attend the training to learn how to help the voters. Please note that you are coming from outside the county when you register for training.)
- You must attend the one-hour online training prior to coming to the in-person training. If you do not have the technology to participate at home, contact Sheri Morgan and she can arrange for you to do it from headquarters.
Click here to register for an online session - You must complete one of the Franklin County Democratic Committee’s in-person training sessions. These sessions run about three hours, depending on how many people attend and how many questions they have. You may attend multiple sessions if you’d like to go over the information more than once.
