Pennsylvania’s new Republican-passed budget cuts Hundreds of Millions from K-12 Public Schools and State Universities, causing teacher layoffs, program cuts and larger classes along with Local Property Tax Increases and College Tuition Increases. Democrats Oppose School Vouchers, which help private schools that don’t have to meet the same standards and requirements as public schools.

We support Increased State Aid, coupled with accountability, to public education at all levels, financed by an extraction tax on natural gas corporations that benefit from our natural resources, eliminating loopholes that allow 2/3 of corporations operating in PA to get away with paying Zero State Tax, and possible expansion of the State Sales Tax. This will help insure Quality Education for All PA students while more equitably sharing the burden of property owners.
