Lu Butler
Chambersburg Borough Council, Fourth Ward
Lifelong Chambersburg resident, Lu Butler has officially announced her candidacy for the Borough Council, Fourth Ward. With her commitment to the community, her integrity and advocacy for fairness, Lu is running to represent her fellow neighbors in the Fourth Ward.
Lu is a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and earned her cosmetology license to operate her own salon for 20 years in Chambersburg. She is currently employed as a Logistics Specialist for Corelle Brands, LLC, where she has worked for 25 years. In that position, Lu oversees the consolidation of shipments for accuracy and acts as a liaison between transportation and other departments. In this position, Lu has honed her problem-solving techniques and strong communication skills, which she believes will serve her well as a borough council representative.
Lu has been married to Allen Butler for 35 years. They have two grown daughters, Amber and Alashia, three grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren. She is a member of the John Wesley AME Zion Church in Chambersburg and serves on the church’s Missionary board and Deaconess Board. Her commitment to the community is influenced by her mother, Bebe Ann Ransom, who was a Franklin County probation officer and a preacher’s steward. Through her mother’s example, Lu learned the values of fairness, integrity and servant leadership. She was taught to uphold justice without prejudice or pride.
“I am running for Chambersburg Borough Council to represent my friends, family and neighbors in the Fourth Ward. I will listen, advocate and work tirelessly to build a stronger, more united community,” Lu said.
Lu seeks the support of the voters in the 4-1 ward who vote at the First Lutheran Church, 43 W. Washington Street and those who vote in the 4-2 ward at the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church, in the upcoming May 20 primary and the November 2025 election.
